Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and What It Means for You
At Wyndham Partners, we are committed to providing trusted, professional services while meeting our legal and regulatory obligations under Australia’s Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) framework. These laws are designed to prevent criminals from using financial and professional services to conceal the proceeds of crime, finance unlawful activities, or move funds through legitimate businesses undetected.
Why AML Matters
Wyndham Partners will guide you through the entire process — from reviewing the Contract of Sale and Section 32, to conducting title and property checks, liaising with your lender, and preparing for settlement on the PEXA platform. We can also talk you through the different ownership structures that are available and suggest which would be most beneficial to you in your current situation.
How AML Affects Our Customers
To comply with AML requirements, we may request information and documentation from you before our engagement. This may include:
Verifying your identity using government-issued identification documents.
Confirming your residential or business address. Understanding the nature and purpose of your relationship with us.
Requesting information about the source of funds or source of wealth for certain transactions or matters.
Identifying beneficial owners, directors, trustees, or other individuals associated with companies, trusts, partnerships, or other entities.
Conducting ongoing reviews where required by law.
In some circumstances, we may need to ask additional questions or request further documentation if information is incomplete, inconsistent, or if enhanced due diligence is required. Please note that AML checks are required by law on a matter-by-matter basis not on a client basis, so depending on the transaction you may be asked to complete your AML checks more than once.
Our Commitment
Wyndham Partners is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, compliance, and client service. By working together to meet AML requirements, we can help ensure a secure, transparent, and trustworthy environment for all our clients.
If you have any questions about our AML obligations or the information we request, our team will be happy to explain the process and assist you.
